Everyone can use money saving tips and sharing new ideas is always fun. I will be posting a tip per month--which I hope you find helpful and fun. :)
January Tip -- DIY "soap on a rope"
Doesn't everyone love them? You used to be able to find them everywhere, but now they've become somewhat of a nostalgic item, and expensive to buy. The idea came to me when I received one of those yummy smelling soaps from Hawaii as a "thank-you" gift from a friend. The soap came in a perfectly sized mesh bag, and as they say...the rest is history.
What you need:
Your favorite bar of soap
Small mesh gift bag with ties
Hook with suction cup
Sponge on a rope (if you can't find one, just make one by poking a hole and loop tie a string through the hole.)
How to:
Put the soap bar in the bag and voila! It's that simple.
Hang your soap on the hook along with your sponge and you've got a self-contained soap station that doesn't take up precious shelf space...and...NO messy goopy soap and soap dish to clean again...ever! If you have multiple kids sharing the same bathroom this is the perfect way to create their own personal soap station, too. The best part is no more waste! When the soap gets down to that tiny little chip that you might have thrown away in the past, you simply drop a new bar in the bag and eventually that little chip will melt away from use.
Tip:
Take the bag of soap and use it like you would any soap on a rope. I like to work up a nice lather with my sponge. Also, for extra exfoliation, you can take your "soap on a rope" and use it to gently scrub your body--BONUS!
I already have next month's tip ready to go, and I can hardly wait to share it with you so please come back then to check it out. :)
